Welcome to our cosy traditional bar showcasing locally brewed ales, thoughtfully curated wine and a large selection of craft spirits. Our bar is the soul of the King’s Arms; whether you’re celebrating, commiserating, or just pausing mid-ramble, there’s always a spot for you here (dog-friendly, naturally).
Our menu is full of hearty, feel-good food made from ingredients that haven’t had to travel far. Think slow-cooked comfort dishes, pub classics done properly, and specials that change with the seasons. Just pull up a chair and leave the rest to us.
After a day exploring the Lakes (or the bar), there’s nothing better than sinking into a freshly made bed. Our rooms are comfy and full of little touches to make you feel at home. Whether you’re here for one night or a whole weekend, it’s the kind of place you’ll wish you’d booked for longer.
Every great pub has its stories, and we’re here to write the next one. The King’s Arms has been a Hawkshead favourite for generations, and under new ownership we’ve given it the love it deserves. We’ve completed a sympathetic renovation to make a pub that feels like home; whether you’re here once a year or every week. We’re all about proper hospitality. That means good food made with care, pints poured just right, and rooms that are a joy to wake up in. We believe in friendly faces, muddy boots, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay for one more. The King’s Arms isn’t just a pub, it’s a place to gather, celebrate, refuel and unwind.
There’s something a bit magical about Hawkshead. Cobbled streets, whitewashed cottages, and a backdrop of rolling fells, it’s the kind of place that feels like a storybook. Wander through the village and you’ll stumble across a variety of independent shops, inviting tearooms, and the Beatrix Potter Gallery, all just a stone’s throw from our front door. Step a little further and the Lake District opens up around you, lush woodland walks, peaceful waterside trails, and scenic climbs for those who fancy a view with their flask of tea. Whether you’re exploring on two feet, two wheels, or four paws, there’s beauty at every turn….and when you’ve had your fill of fresh air we’ll be here with a pint and a pie, ready to hear all about it.
